Atlantic City Casinos Performed Better Than Expected

Every New Jersey business was deeply impacted when the news of COVID-19’s spread became very intense in March 2020. However, this news was very cruel for the casino industry of Atlantic City.
The tourism destination of South Jersey in the Atlantic City was just about to enjoy the perks of organizing a large gathering for NCAA’s annual men’s basketball tournament that went with the name of ‘March Madness.’ This tournament was organized at the time when this occasion was set to be the second year when legal sports betting will be conducted in every casino after the ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court in mid-2018 that allowed legal gambling across the different parts of the United States.
In addition to this, the casinos have seen a great time in the summer and spring seasons since Resorts Casino Hotel started its service in 1978 after becoming the first casino to operate outside the American state of Nevada.
But as the years went by, for many reasons, the casino industry of Atlantic City performed better than many casinos in New Jersey, especially in the wake of the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
A panel led by Stockton University was organized with the name of “The Jersey Shoreview: Fall Tourism and Business Panel Discussion.” In this session, the executive of Caesars, Jim Ziereis, said that every operator has been able to make some financial and physical adjustments to ensure that their company stays afloat during this pandemic.
These adjustments had to be made because of the sudden orders from Governor Phil Murphy. He ordered the nine casinos in the region to shut their doors for the evening of Monday, 16th March 2020.
The CEO of Ocean Casino Resort Terry Glebocki told that he remembers speaking to a person on the night of Saturday if the closing of casinos is avoidable or not. Just a few days after that, the casinos were told to shut.
