On Friday, the Yokohama city of Japan announced its plans of holding the 1st meeting of the selection committee of Yokohama IR operator on November 30, 2020.

As per the information received by a Japan correspondent of GGRAsia, a committee has to be formed in accordance with the local basic policy which has been created on integrated resorts. This has to be done because large-scale complexes for casinos that have facilities for tourists are very popular in Japan.

The officials in Yokohama said on October 13 that a fresh request for concept (RFC) phase would be conducted by them by taking opinions from the communities for getting a integrated casino resort which is abbreviated as IR. The phase of new RFC will begin on October 13 and it will end by the last week of November 2020. Following this, the request for proposal (RFP) phase will begin at a suitable time

The authorities select the decision-makers of operator-selection team from the country’s academic sector. These professionals are selected based on their experience and expertise in urban development, construction, gambling addiction concerns, economics, public safety, corporate management, tourism, and MICE (Meetings Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) business.

The pre-defined agenda by the authorities for the 1st meeting has many topics including the appointment of the committee’s Chairman.

As per the information collected earlier, the city will be having one to one discussions with the private-sector firms and casino operators in the city who were involved in the RFC phase conducted before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. This process will be a part of the new RFC process.

After the new discussion with the companies previously involved, the city would revise the financial effects of getting a local Integrated Casino Resort on the city. It would also plan a schedule for ending the process of the IR’s development.
